Should you fire your SEO company?

I heard a new client tell me yesterday, “Wow, I wish we had known about you guys years ago.  We would have avoided a lot of wasted time and money.”

He was blown away that after only 2 weeks, his site was ranked #1 on Google for many of the keywords he’d always wanted to rank for.  More importantly, his sales were also sky-rocketing.  He bragged that he’s even getting orders from Spain and Saudi Arabia and other countries.  He’s wanted his website to work for him, like this, for the past 10 years but has struggled, despite all of the money he’s paid to other SEO firms.

He went on to say that he really loved the gal that he’s used for SEO over the years but unfortunately, her company just didn’t know how to really make it work, despite the fact that her company just does SEO and nothing else.  Ironic, isn’t it?   There seem to be a huge number of companies out there with SEO in their name who have a handful to tricks up their sleeves but they struggle to ever have success with any of their clients’ sites.  In my mind, ignorant novices who are masquerading as SEO professionals are bordering on SEO malpractice.  Upon close inspection, you’ll see that they even have trouble getting traffic to their own sites.  That begs the question, if they can’t get traffic to their own site, how can they get traffic to yours?

I understand, I’ve been there.  There was a time when I wondered why on earth we couldn’t consistently get sites to rank on the first page of Google.  It was very frustrating.  I pondered.  I researched.  I tested.  I followed the rules and even tried some “risky” tricks to see if I could get things to work.  But that was ten years ago.  A lot has changed.  In fact, it’s changing every day.  You have to constantly stay on top of it.

Sure, there are the tried and true methods that we use and I’m sure the others with SEO in their company name use too.  You know, they’ll tell you it’s all about links.  Or they’ll say you have to have good content.  Or maybe you’ve been told that you have to have meta keywords (which by the way, isn’t true.)

But…

there’s one thing that virtually no SEO companies are doing that actually gets the kind of results that my client was raving about.  Of course, I can’t tell you what that is through my blog or I’d have to kill you.  The other SEO companies who want to begin getting results for their clients too follow this blog.  But, if you’re curious about how we can turn your website around so that you can brag to your friends about sales from Saudi Arabia, let’s meet for coffee.  Give me a call and we’ll talk.  The number is 970-674-0079.
