More and more companies are turning to social media sites to market their products or services. According to a 2013 survey conducted by LinkedIn and the market research firm TNS, 80% of small and medium businesses are using social media as part of their marketing strategy. While nearly two-thirds of those surveyed say that their biggest obstacle is attracting new business, over 60% say they feel social media has helped them find new clients. And, 40% feel that social media has helped them retain their current customers as well.
There are also benefits to using social media that go beyond marketing. You can network with peers, discuss challenges and get advice. Many social networking sites also offer reviews and articles written by industry leaders. Of those surveyed, nearly 50% say they use social media to share resources and learn from experts.
These findings show that, when done correctly, social media marketing can play a big role in increasing sales for any business, from a website design company to a retailer.
