It’s been shown time and time again, that search engine optimization is the best marketing tactic for your marketing dollars.  While other tactics, like public relations, Internet marketing and direct response marketing are fantastic strategies, SEO continues to be the least expensive because more and more people are turning to the Web.  In fact more than 2.4 billion people are surfing the Internet on a daily basis.   That’s more than 1/3 of all people.  And when times are tough, like in this economy, maximizing your marketing expenditures is always a smart idea.

So what does a good SEO program include?

It doesn’t have to be complicated.  Content needs to written so that Google likes it.  Here are a few tips for how to improve your content so that Google will like your pages more.

  1. Focus on one keyword phrase per page
  2. Include that keyword phrase in the title, headline, meta tags, alt tags and comments
  3. Try to put that phrase near the beginning of paragraphs, beginning of sentences, and toward the top of the page
  4. Include that phrase between 2% and 5% of the time.  That means for every 100 words, make sure you have your focused phrase between 2 and 5 times.  Never exceed 5% or Google may penalize your site.

That’s it.  It’s literally that simple.  Sure there are other things that you can do, but if you do these simple things, your pages are much more likely to be found high in the search results.

To your continued success.
