Last week our Thursday restaurant adventure took us to a cozy little establishment called, The Border. As you may remember the Red Rocket website design team has started a new tradition where we eat at a different local Windsor restaurant every Thursday.
The Border Restaurant is located on the east end of Main Street in downtown Windsor. This is just a short hike from our office, and since the weather was nice we decided to walk. When you enter The Border Restaurant, the first thing you notice is that it has the feeling of a small, family owned restaurant with a loyal local crowd. Aaron Brown commented on the atmosphere and that sparked a conversation about what is is that makes a local place feel that way. I don’t want to use the word “dive,” because it wasn’t at all unpleasant, but The Border is definitely not Applebee’s. Is it the low ceiling? Is it the wood paneling? The southwestern posters? The friendly waitress? The lack of booths? Whatever it was, it feels good.
We ordered our food and the place filled up as we waited for our food. I was surprised by how busy The Border was. Considering that The Border doesn’t have a website, it is amazing how well they do by word of mouth.
If you get the chance, check out The Border. The food was good, and the price was right, too. I got plenty of food for about $7. Next time I eat there I am planning on exploring their American menu.
