I’ve been contemplating the idea of implementing a wellness program in our workplace. I’ve been doing some research and consulting with a wellness specialist and it turns out there are a ton of great free resources out there; The American Heart Association, Live Strong and WELCOA to name a few. You can create a wellness plan that is very simple (or very complex) that benefits both employees and your business. And, it doesn’t require a big budget or a big time commitment. Research shows that companies that have a wellness program in place tend to have fewer workers comp claims and employees of these companies tend to miss less work. Employees and potential hires also see these programs as a valuable benefit.
