If you’re like most people, you’re thinking about setting some New Year’s resolutions. However, if you’re like most people, you’ll also break those promises to yourself within a few weeks. What if this year, you didn’t decide to lose 10 pounds and then call it quits the first time a cake passed before your eyes? (I say cake, because I have a weakness for cake) What if this year, you actually lost the weight and kept it off? What would you resolve to change next year? Rather than resolving to lose that same 10 pounds you could move on to the next thing on your list and knock that one out too.
But how can you do that? Routine. For me, I can do most things if I put them into a regular routine. I spent years thinking it sure would be nice if I did a few things in my life but I never did them. It wasn’t until I wrote down a daily routine that incorporated all of the things that I kept missing each day. Once I wrote them down and did them every day, they became part of who I was. Before I knew it, I was working out every morning. I was taking my vitamins and flossing my teeth and spending time reading my Bible. I just needed to commit to the routine. Rather than thinking, some day I’ll work out, I said, I work out every day at 6:15 a.m. (however, I missed it this morning because it’s a holiday.)
Give it a shot. See if it doesn’t help. Hope you have a wonderful New Year’s. Here’s to your New Year’s Routine.
