Monday, October 18th, 2010

When you don’t know what to say, it’s all in the LINGO…

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

On more than one occasion, I have found myself writing copy for industries that I am vaguely familiar with.  I’ve written copy for anything from athletics copy to restaurant commercial copy to water rights copy.  To be honest, I really had no idea what I was doing when I started the water rights piece – but I got through [...]

Believe it or not… you can write.

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

This is the one thing that gets me all the time, there are so many people who are very able, but for one reason or another believe they can’t write.  I saw this in college, which part of me believes is a little bit of laziness kicking in… but now that I am writing for Red [...]

And you can quote me on that….

Monday, September 6th, 2010

If you’ve read my introduction page, you know that while attending UMKC I took a journalism course from Pulitzer Prize Winner Bob Unger. I’m starting to see a common theme in that I enjoy referencing my teachers of the past. I guess I just can’t seem to escape the impact that they have had on [...]

Make a List…. Check it twice… This Business Tip is so, so Nice!!!

Saturday, September 4th, 2010

Making lists may seem silly, but in a world where time is money and there isn’t much to go around, making a list can be a HUGE benefit! The three best things about having a list are that it keeps you organize, it helps you stay on task, and it can make you feel better.

It’s Just Writing…. Don’t Take It So Personally

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

The #1 rule to live by for writers writing works for others: it’s just writing, so don’t take criticism so personally! I’ve seen far too many writers take criticism and feedback too personally, whether it was for writing in composition class, copy writing for advertising class, or writing and proofing copy for the marketing world. [...]

Brand Loyalty for Sale… to cheapest/most convenient brand!

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

It wasn’t until recently that I realized that my own brand loyalty was for sale to the cheapest and most convenient option… Regardless of whether or not the economy is suffering – brand loyalty is usually dictated by the cheapest and most convenient option; especially when the competing brand are comperable.
