In-house Web Developer Job: Northern Colorado

Red Rocket Web Specialists is looking for a Web Developer to join our team. Our team of specialists needs someone who brings creativity and out-of-the-box thinking while understanding the clients’ needs.

We’re looking for someone who has tremendous experience with Web development, specifically with WordPress. The ideal person will be able to articulate why something works or doesn’t work from a technical perspective and offer insight beyond just development and programming. This position will rarely require web design since we have a designer on staff, but understanding and being able to communicate effectively about a given design is necessary to make sure we are doing our best for our clients.

Summary: The Web Developer will be responsible for supporting the existing infrastructure of sites already deployed as well as develop new WordPress sites while collaborating with a web designer, an SEO specialist, a writer and others that are involved with the project.

The ideal candidate must display excellent written and oral skills with demonstrated interpersonal and organization abilities. A candidate for this position must be able to effectively handle multiple tasks at the same time.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each of the following duties with excellence. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, background and/or ability REQUIRED to be successful in this position.

Must have at least 3 years of development experience
Must be exceptional in HTML, Dreamweaver, jQuery and CSS
Must have created from scratch, a minimum of 10 WordPress sites, not just modifying existing themes
Must be able to integrate multiple third-party software packages
Must understand how to develop and test on multiple browsers
Must be able to conduct all user acceptances testing and repair any bugs including browser compatibility, slow load times, validation errors etc.
Must have strong knowledge of Search Engine Optimization so development doesn’t impede SEO
Must be proficient in Internet-related applications such as FTP, and Web Browsers
Must be able to communicate and teach non-technical users
Must be detail-oriented
Must respond proactively to training, technical support and customer needs

Additional experience that isn’t required but definitely a plus: (small company, lots of hats)

Flash video/animation experience
Knowledgeable in PHP, XML, Java, JavaScript, .NET, Photoshop, MySQL, SQL, ASP
Design knowledge and skills; including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
Knowledge and implementation of SEO concepts

The Ideal candidate will also possess the following skills:

Able to work independently and collectively to meet deadlines
Experience with hardware and software issues
Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills
Candidate must be a team player and willing to teach and to learn
Self motivated, detail-oriented and organized

Language Skills : Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff or clients.

Reasoning Ability : Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Prerequisites:

2+ years real-world graphic design experience through an internship, self-employment or employment through a professional agency
Proficiency in InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
Marketing knowledge a plus
Ability to handle multifaceted projects and day-to-day activities
Ability to work under time constraints, budget constraints and meet deadlines
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Friendly, high energy, professional, resourceful, well organized and self-motivated
Ability to work well with creative team and take direction from management team
Ability to adapt design skills to fit the needs of clients
